It started with clean-up of the beach area on 13 February 2004 and set up the tents. Then on Friday 14 Feb, we started the festivities with a Grand Parade across Barrio Barretto, Olongapo PI. We had more than a hundred vehicles in the parade which stretched all the way across town, well it’s not a big town. Friday was a day of mostly BBQ, cold drinks, Shriners blowing up balloons for the little kids as well as the big ones too. There was some music and the little Mr. beach bashers dancing. Then on Saturday we had more of the little beach bashers competing in song and dance. Then on Sunday the festivities really picked up. The day started with an 80K bicycle race from Barrio Barretto to Iba and back. Then later in the day we completed all the contestants in singing, dancing or what other talents they may have been competing and of course the Miss beach bashers.

The proceeds from the beach bash go strictly to VFW 11447 for their scholarship fund for the children they are currently sponsoring and have been for some years now. If you are ever in Olongapo around Valentines Day, we’ll be having a beach bash so drop in and enjoy some really great camaraderie and just down to earth fun with the kids.
