Recent Bombings in Mindanao

The Embassy wishes to draw the attention of U.S. citizens to three explosions that occurred in southern and central Mindanao on January 10, 2007 and reiterate that such bombings remain a possibility throughout Mindanao.  The largest of these, which detonated near a public market in General Santos City, reportedly killed six people and wounded 24.  An explosion in Cotabato City reportedly killed two people, and another explosion in Kidapawan City wounded two.

U.S. citizens in the Philippines are urged to remain conscious of their personal security profile and to review the Travel Warning for the Philippines, issued June 16, 2006, as well as the Consular Information Sheet for the Philippines dated June 19, 2006.
