USCG Recruiter Visit Update 02: The U.S. Coast Guard will have a recruiter on hand in the Philippines during AUG 07. His tentative schedule is to be at RAO Baguio 5 thru 8 AUG, RAO Subic the 9 thru 11 AUG, and RAO Angeles City 13 AUG. Those interested should contact the appropriate RAO in advance to ensure he will be available to talk to you. RAO locations are:

The Recruiter will be available to explain benefits associated with service in the Coast Guard, answer questions, and interview applicants desiring enlistment. Those interested in joining the Coast Guard must meet the following criteria:
  1. US citizen or green card holder
  2. Age 17 to 27. A two year waiver up to age 29 can be requested.
  3. Pass the ASVAB exam with a combined score of 40 or more/46 for applicants with GED.
  4. Meet US Coast Guard Maximum Allowable Weight standards to be determined according to each individual’s height and bone structure crosschecked on a chart. Body fat is not factored.
  5. Meet minimum High School education criteria. (Diploma, GED, College credits, etc.)All education will be subject to evaluation thru the same agency used to evaluate all other armed forces applicants.
  6. Have no more than two dependents.(One must be the spouse)This does not mean you have to be married to join, it means you must be married if you have one child.
  7. Bring all pertinent ORIGINAL documents for verification (birth certificate, passport, social security card ,high school diploma, college credits, marriage certificate, spouse’s birth certificate, social security card, passport, all other ORIGINAL paperwork they may feel is necessary).
  8. Tattoos are to be limited on the following areas: between the elbow and wrist, and knee and ankle. Limits for these areas shall not exceed 25% of such mass. In other words, if the applicant cannot cover the tattoo with his own hand it exceeds limitations. Tattoos above the T-shirt neckline or on the hands are disqualifying factors, and waivers will not be considered for such.
Applicants who meet or exceed the above standards will be commercially transported to Guam at government expense for official ASVAB testing, physical examination, and induction into the Delayed Entry Program upon completion of the National Security Questionnaire and all pertinent enrollment paperwork. Departure to basic training will be determined based on next available open date, or as vacancies become available. Regardless, all qualified personnel will be sent as soon as possible. Please come out on 4 July @ Noon at the Patio Inn (Diamond Sub Div) to join your fellow members, veterans and Americans to celebrate our Nations Independance Day.  The event will be sponsored by your local VVA Chapter 887 and tickets will be on sale at the VFW 2485 July general membership meeting as well as from most VVA members @ P400 each.  There will be some tickets, I am sure, for sale at the door.    There will be lots of good food, an excellent band and good comrdeship to enjoy.

To our VVA 8887 members, we will have our BOD Meeting and regular  meeting on 3 July at E Z Rider Bar for final preparation for the picnic.  There are many local members wh o have not picked up tickets to help sell or buy.  This is OUR big annual event and we need ALL member's support.

What will this cost me?

•  Immigrations will not charge you a cent for the data gathering. However, they will accept payment for the ACR-I Card $50.00 or daily rate in pesos. RAO will collect P300.00 per person who will attend the data gathering. Remember we have to pay the lodging and travel for the Immigration officials.
